Hi again everyone,

Let’s start this 2019 with some planning, some enthusiasm, some goals and intentions and most of all – some accountability for all that!!

Yvonne of Quilting Jetgirl was hosting a great 2019 Planning Party – and I was planning on joining in, but somehow didn’t get to do all this by the end of 31.st… so too late to link-up to the party, but definitely not to go over there and read all the interesting posts about planning and goals and what works and what doesn’t.. I love reading them all and I am learning a lot! So if you have plans for 2019 and want some goal setting to do – go read what your fellow creatives are trying!

So, FIRST – here is my confession: for several years now (or…forever? LOL) I aspire to be better organized, more efficient with my time to create, to have a better blog and be able to share more of what I know, what I create or what I learn… And somehow there are always distractions, reasons that take my time and/or energy, feeble attempts that fizzle out in a month or so…. Yup, that’s me. Booo. Enough already. No more excuses, distractions and feelings of failure that paralyze. Does anyone else battle with this or is it just me??

Most of all – I do NOT want to do any self-pity and all that stuff – I just want to learn how to be better! WHY? you may ask? Well, I asked myself that too – why do I want this? Why do I bother? I don’t really have a clear answer… except that I constantly feel that so much of what I can and want to create is somehow still trapped…inside? If that makes any sense?? I constantly feel as if I am my own biggest obstacle? I get distracted, I want too much (for the hours of the day), I don’t plan well… Can anyone relate?

I am not sure, but hey – I said let’s start with enthusiasm and goals – so no more of negative stuff, here is what I want to accomplish in creative work of 2019:

BIG PICTURE – OVERALL GOAL: get what’s in my head and heart into the light of day.

Yeah, it is a big, lofty and very general goal, isn’t it? That’s OK – now I will get into the specifics. What I really mean by that is:

  1. Design more quilts
  2. Share many designs/patterns/tutorials on my blog
  3. Develop video tutorials
  4. Publish my designs in magazines that inspire me (hopefully)
  5. Try to bring that vague idea of the book I have a bit more into the light of day…

OK – even these are not as specific as they need to be – for me, but I don’t want to bore you all with all the details. I am going to go and “spill” it all into my Quilter’s Planner… (I really love it! Have you tried it? It is really nice, big and – it comes with patterns and inspiration too!) I had one for three years now and I want to use this one to the fullest!

(Yes, Charley thinks he is very helpful by snoring right beside me… 😂)

So the first stop on my journey? – a list of UFOs and WIPs and more importantly things that are “IN QUE & DUE”– made-up that name myself!

I am using the free UFO challenge chart provided by American Patchwork & Quilting magazine (a nice little challenge to join if you want! ) to do this…

Except, as you can see I need TWO of the… LOL! I do have quite a few and needs to separate them into “must do” and “want to do” – hey that will work for me – need to clear the plate first.

Hey, can you all do me a favor? Can you come back sometime soon and ask me – hey, how’s that clearing of things “in que & due” going? Have something to show?

I certainly hope I do…

Happy, creative and joyful New Year to you all,

Love,

Marija

I understand your blog post very very well.
I wanted to also be organized and prepared for 2019.
I am still working on my list. Have not blogged in over a month. ( before that 6 months.)
Here is hoping that tomorrow my goal can be fulfilled. Make A List of UFO’S.
Loved to read your message today,
    Blessings, Kathleen Mary

I think we can all related to getting waylaid by life in one way or another. I view it all as part of the dance, two steps forward, one step back. Heck, sometimes three steps back! I hope that by setting your goals for 2019 it helps you maintain the focus that you desire. May you have a wonderful and creative 2019, and thanks for joining the Planning Party!
