Hello everyone,
Real winter finally came to Buffalo and it is chilllllly today.
I am going home early from work and sitting in the bus, writing this blog post. I wanted to write it all down, all my thoughts and plans, all the steps I am taking right now to try and grow my brand, all my creative passions, tucked under the name of Mara Quilt Designs.
Honestly, just writing down words like “my brand” scares me and puts a super skeptical critic in my head (you know, one that says “what brand?”, “you don’t have a brand (yet)”, “you sure you have it in you?” … etc. etc. ). But I am determined to NOT let that stop me and bravely, I am going to use these big words! 😁
It might be my science background, the way I do my day job (cancer research), but if I want to start something, try or develop something – I need to KNOW things. I need to read about it, take a class, course…
So when I decided to switch to my own domain and WordPress, I got three books…
Now that I would like to have a serious blog, develop my pattern and all that , I feel my social media presence needs to be way better. Way, way better.
That is where Maria Peagler and Socialmediaonlineclasses.com comes in. Have you heard about it?
For me, it is the best place for getting knowledge and training for ALL social media platforms, to learn at your own pace and yet have a community of others to discuss it with and even 1:1 coaching with Maria, if you need it. Not to mention useful webinars, info graphics and more. And yes, let’s be real here – you don’t have to pay a load of money to do it. Just go check it out.
I have known about it for a while now and have been a member too, but I haven’t been serious about actually doing the work so far – and that will change now.
I realized one thing recently: if I want to do what I am dreaming about, in parallel with all the other things in my life (meaning, there is very limited time in the day), I need to do it efficiently, learn things I am not experienced with from others that know better, take small but CONSISTENT steps forward and stay ON IT. That’s just me.
I used to get angry and disappointed in myself for falling off the wagon, for wasting time or loosing track… need to change that too.
So my friends, you will likely hear about my journey through SMOC again, as I am really looking forward to learning and getting much better in all this – blogging, Instagram, YouTube videos…
Is any one of you doing anything similar? Or are you already experienced in all this and have some advice for me? I would love to hear it!
In the meantime, I am off to start my first class (Social Media Strategy) and see what it is that I need to tackle first!
Yes, I have a notebook for it and all… 🤓
Talk to you all soon,
Love,
Marija
PS – yes I started this post yesterday while going home from work and finished it today (Saturday) during my early miring coffee. I did say I need to be better at this blogging thing, didn’t I? LOL
Travels to Esoterra pattern has a misspelling.
Under the title: “Strip piecing for the block:”, paragraph 1., the word LENGTHWISE is misspelled. There is the same error on the second page of the pattern “Featured in AGF Esoterra Lookbook”.
If you would like me to scan and email the two pages, showing you the mispelling, I would be very glad too as it would save you time.
Miss Gabe
