Hi friends,
Having my soup and thought I will talk to you now! 😁
First thought of this post? – if you are following this challenge, I sure hope you are not tired of me already? 😬
For me, it really is exciting and challenging to do it, because it kinda makes me think about my blog, about my creative work, about my organization of time… on a daily basis!! And that is just awesome!
I sure hope to learn from the whole experience and of course – have a better blog.
I spent a really good evening yesterday.
I was sewing and listening/watching Voice (a really good one last night!!) and I finished both Aria dresses for presents!
These are not for my granddaughters though. They are for two sisters, going through some tough times…
Every year my department adopts a family in need to make their holidays a bit brighter and everyone donates gifts from their list of needs and wishes. This year, it is actually a family of a current patient and she is only 3 years old. A brave 3-year old girl fighting cancer. And family fighting with her and going through hard times due to all the medical bills and circumstances. Does it get any harder???
It’s just heartbreaking and besides wanting to buy every item on their list I also knew I had to MAKE something. Knowing how much our granddaughters love dresses and twirly, sparkly things, I am on the quest to make as many of them as I can firnthese two brave sisters.
Big sister’s dress:
Aria dress (see previous posts for the pattern link) is just perfect combination of twirly and special with just comfy and practical, so decided to do them first. Blue color was a choice because the older sister’s favorite color is blue.
Little sister’s dress:
I went for both, flounce and sleeves and that was slightly challenging – lots of pins and patience…
First flounce…
Then sleeve on top of that…
And after some slowwww stitching… yay!
Due to considerable built in the shoulder seam, I had to topstitch it for a better fit
That was the most time consuming part, but it worked just fine.
I just love these bows on the back !!
I decided at the end to add just one more little touch – little bow on he front too…
Next on deck – a sparkly, festive set of dresses!!
Like I said – I had a really good evening yesterday, hope you all did too. ❤️
See you tomorrow,
Love,
Marija
