Hi everyone,

Summer always takes me away from my studio somehow (likely the fact that there is no AC in our old house has something to do with it – it gets hot up there!) but as soon as August turns its page and heat subsides a bit, I am back in there!!

I have been brewing some projects and tutorials for sharing but in the meantime, here is just a quick summer update!

I haven’t completely abandon my se sewing room of course – when my little princesses need a dress or two, Bai sits down down to stitch…

Here are three ruffled cuties for my two granddaughters and their cousin. This is Isobel pattern from Violette Fields Threads – I just love how they turned out!! This pattern has an easy closure on the back (buttons!) so no over-the-head on and off – sometimes that is the most important feature for my girls!! Bonus – I found some super cute doughnut buttons!! 😁

The three matching dresses were imagined for a special photo shoot, to have a special photo for Nana’s birthday. The photo shoot was fun but the cuteness and beauty of these smiles just makes my heart so full!!

Another great and easy sew is Aria dress from Simple Life Pattern Company – it is just so cute with those bows on the back!!

Our youngest granddaughter needed a birthday dress that had to be a little shimmery and purple of course… Aria pattern was just perfect. For some added shimmer and special occasion , I made a separate tulle skirt – it was a hit! 😍

In fact, I made three more after that!

Then came “back to school” sewing – our Juliana is in Pre-K already!! Where does the time go…

For that, I picked Olive pattern from VFT again – it was perfect as our girl does not want buttons at the moment!! She certainly has a mind of her own!!

I just love these cute little cap sleeves!

They do take some patience to put in – no skipping pins here! But so worth it.

Of course Bai added a special pocket (we loooove pockets!!) and made little sis a matching dress too.

And when you see these smiles, you know how every stitch (even in the somewhat too hot sewing room!) is cherished and enjoyed. ❤️

Besides all this cuteness of little girls dresses, there was some quilty stuff going on too. One of my favorite new rulers is the Classic Curve Ruler by Sharon McConnell of Color Girl Quilts, and when Sharon asked for some pattern testers for her new pattern Pompoms, I couldn’t resist!

This pattern is really fun and much easier than it might look like -I highly recommend it!!

I picked some colors with fall vibes for this one.

You make a block and then you cut it again, to get a really fun design possibilities – really fun!!

I decided on dark background and I really like this color combos – very scrappy too (you know how that’s not very easy for me… 😬😱😂)

This is the original pattern layout (my version will be a large pillow)

And here is my little play on different layout, with leftover blocks I made (plus few extra plain background squares):

I think this one would make a great secondary pattern if there were more of these next to each other, don’t you think?

I started even quitting the first one, but then some home DIY had to be done, namely long overdue painting of the living room (!!), so quilting part will have to be in next post.

But here is the living room before and after:

Tired old yellow is gone and fresh, calm, neutral gray is here – I really like it. There are definitely few next steps to do, but at least this big messy part is done. I can’t wait to drop some color accents in here (read: some quilts and pillows of course!)

OK, that was a quick summer update and as title says, hello Fall! I just love the crispy morning air combined with hot cup of coffee and of course easy and long walks with Mr. Charley – he is bouncier now too!

Leaving you with these puppy grins for now, let’s get busy sewing!

Have wonderful days ahead,

Love,

Marija
